Coal Mine Methane Projects

Sindicatum invests in and operates Coal Mine Methane (CMM) and Ventilation Air Methane (VAM) projects to improve the safety, efficiency and profitability of coal mining operations, and therefore their sustainability.

Sindicatum’s projects maximize the capture of high concentration methane by assisting coal mines to enhance methane drainage capture, flow and quality; this raises safety standards in the underground environment while increasing the opportunity for increased energy utilization.

By employing specialist technology Sindicatum has also developed innovative methods to abate low concentration methane from exhausted ventilation air, which accounts for 70-80% of the methane emitted by coal mining.

Sindicatum believes that its holistic approach of maximizing gas capture, optimizing utilization of drained gas, flaring of surplus methane and destruction of VAM at the surface exhaust fans will ultimately facilitate near-zero emission (“nZEM”) mining.

Sindicatum has developed an nZEM platform as a standalone virtual corporation, through which it is pioneering the world’s first near-zero methane emission mining operations.
