Sindicatum Foundation
Sindicatum Climate Change Foundation
SCCF is a not-for-profit UK based foundation, established to fill a perceived gap between charitable assistance and corporate projects within the Climate Change space. One of its main goals is to encourage the adoption of renewable energy alternatives around the world. It was launched towards the end of 2009 by Sindicatum Sustainable Resources Group as part of its corporate and social responsibility initiative.
Sindicatum has funded the Foundation since that time and continues to work closely with it to promote socially responsible activities.
SCCF’s strategy is to:
- Support and encourage education and research associated with sustainability and alternative energies
- Demonstrate the best use of available technologies (many renewable technologies struggle to gain traction because they are inappropriately used or used in the wrong context)
- Find techniques and technologies that have been successfully adopted in one part of the world, and help deploy them elsewhere ahead of the normal commercial curve
SCCF has funded projects in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia and has partnered with institutions such as Oxford University’s Environmental Change Institute, TERI University (India), the Catholic Church in Ghana, the Eden Project and Asia IIX (Singapore).
The Foundation’s board of trustees comprises Lord Stone of Blackheath, former Managing Director of Marks & Spencer and a recognised spokesman on climate change and Middle East affairs in the House of Lords, Lord Puttnam of Queensgate, former chairman of UNICEF UK and of the Joint Parliamentary Climate Change Bill Scrutiny Committee; and Mr Alok Verma, partner at UK accounting firm SRLV.
