Meteo Systems International AG (“Meteo”) owns and operates a precipitation enhancement technology, WeatherTec™, which is intended for the following applications under certain environmental conditions: replenishment of groundwater (refilling aquifers) and dams; irrigation of agricultural land and opening up semi-arid regions for agriculture where rainfall has become inadequate; re-wetting of peat land; creating cloud cover for temperature reduction and energy savings; and dissipating fog at airports and in cities.
WeatherTec™ combines scientific theory and practice of locally tapping into the earth’s electric field to affect cloud physics (similar to the manner in which the sun’s cosmic rays ionize the atmosphere) using entirely natural processes. The technology utilizes the “pipeline in the sky” where atmospheric humidity from the oceans can be transported many hundreds of kilometers inland to bring water down to ground in the form of rainfall or snow. WeatherTec™ is a truly green technology, which can provide rainfall or cloud coverage over several hundred sq km while consuming only the same energy as a domestic household (500 W). The foundation of the technology is from the Russian military going back +30 years and today’s system was initially funded by the Swiss Government in 2006, following which demonstration cases took place Australia/Queensland in 2005, the United Arab Emirates/Ras Al Khaimah in 2006 and United Arab Emirates since May 2010.
Sindicatum has recently become the majority shareholder of MSI and provides ongoing strategic advice to MSI management.
